According to report, the resignation came after the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) disowned the Bachelor of Science degree certificate in the possession of the Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology.
However, the Enugu state government has now stated that when some journalists reportedly gathered so that Uche Nnaji could explain his own side of the story, he failed to do so.
Chukwuemeka Nebo, the Director of Information in the Ministry of Information and Communication in Enugu state said Uche Nnaji absconded and left his proxies when he had the opportunity to prove his innocence on the matter.
He said those accusing the administration of Governor Peter Mbah of initiating the controversies surrounding the minister’s academic record should stop doing so. He said the govenment has no hand in it and Uche Nnaji should carry his cross.
Here is what Chukwuemeka Nebo said according to Channels TV;
“A large number of Nigerian and international journalists reportedly gathered on the minister’s invitation to hear directly from him. But rather than appear before them to answer questions and establish his innocence, the minister absconded, leaving behind proxies who could not withstand the barrage of legitimate questions from journalists”.
