President Bola Tinubu has transmitted multiple executive communications to the Senate, requesting confirmation of several appointments across major federal agencies.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio read the letters during Wednesday’s plenary, outlining nominations spanning the communications, civil service, electoral, and financial sectors.
Among the key requests is the confirmation of nine nominees for executive positions at the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).

Those nominated include Idris Olorunnimbe as chairman, Aminu Maida as executive vice-chairman and CEO, Abraham Oshidami as executive commissioner (technical services), and Rimini Makama as executive commissioner (stakeholder management).
Others on the list are Maryam Bayi as commissioner for human capital and administration, along with Abdulwahab Lawal, Lekan Mustafa, Chris Okorie, and Oforitsenere Emiko as commissioners.
Akpabio referred the nominations to the Senate Committee on Communications, which has been given two weeks to report back.
In a similar communication, Tinubu sought the reappointment of Idahagbon Williams Omoregie from Edo State and Ngbea Gabriel from Benue State as commissioners in the Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC).
The matter has been directed to the Senate Committee on Establishment with a one-week reporting timeline.
The president also proposed Musa Babayo as chairman of the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) and Aminu Yusuf as chairman of the National Population Commission (NPC).
Both nominations were referred to the respective Senate committees overseeing the agencies, each expected to report within one week.
Additionally, Tinubu nominated Adeniran Raymond Tella as Resident Electoral Commissioner for Oyo State, a nomination now before the Senate Committee on INEC, also with a one-week timeframe.
The president further recommended Keji Onwu for appointment as an independent director on the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) board.
The Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and Other Financial Institutions is expected to submit its report within one week.
It would be recalled that on Tuesday, President Tinubu had earlier written to the Senate seeking the confirmation of management appointees for the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC),
Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), Unclaimed Funds Trust Fund, and the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC).
With the growing number of executive requests, the Senate faces a busy confirmation period as it reviews key appointments central to the administration’s governance and reform agenda.
