President Bola Tinubu has formally asked the Senate to confirm Joash Amupitan as the new Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The request was conveyed in a letter read by Senate President Godswill Akpabio during Tuesday’s plenary session.
If confirmed, Amupitan will succeed Mahmood Yakubu and oversee the nation’s electoral body at a crucial time, as Nigeria prepares for upcoming off-cycle and general elections.
