Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo has taken a sharp jab at Nigeria’s opposition parties, preemptively drafting mock press statements in response to Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah’s high-profile defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a pointed social media post, Keyamo dismissed the opposition’s anticipated reactions as “old and outdated,” asserting that Nigerian voters have grown wiser amid the ruling party’s expanding influence.
Keyamo, a prominent APC figure and former presidential campaign spokesman, timed his commentary to catch the opposition “before they recover from the shock of their total exit from the South-East.”

Mbah’s Tuesday announcement, which included his predecessor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi and numerous lawmakers, represents a significant blow to the PDP’s regional stronghold.
Keyamo suggested the move stems from a collective decision by over 80 percent of party executives and appointees, frustrated by the PDP’s disregard for South-East voices despite decades of loyalty.
In his post, Keyamo humorously scripted sample opposition retorts, including: “‘We are not surprised by this cowardly act of the Governor who has been arm-twisted by the APC or President Tinubu, bla bla bla…..’”
He continued with parodies like “‘This latest defection of the Governor will not affect the fortunes of the opposition bla bla bla …..’” and “‘The 2027 election will be between the APC and the Nigerian people bla bla…’”
Dismissing these as recycled clichés, Keyamo declared, “The formats are old and outdated. The true voters and Nigerians are now wiser.”
He promised more “drafts” following the “next defection to the APC in a matter of days or weeks,” hinting at further high-profile shifts that could further erode opposition ranks ahead of the 2027 polls.
The post, shared on Keyamo’s official X account, quickly garnered thousands of views and shares, amplifying APC’s narrative of momentum under President Bola Tinubu.
The PDP is yet to issue an official statement, but party insiders described Mbah’s exit as a “painful but expected” development amid internal fractures.
