Davido’s appearance at a billionaire’s wedding in Warri has stirred online debate after a political aide criticised his choice of footwear.
Ossai Ovie Success, aide to Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, faulted the Afrobeats superstar for wearing slippers to the September 13 wedding of Chief Dr. Michael Edematie-Ikuku’s daughter, Tosan Ejiro, and her husband, Samuel Adebayo Tayo.
The lavish ceremony attracted high-profile guests, including Nollywood stars Chinedu Ikedieze (Aki) and Osita Iheme (Pawpaw), singer Simi, and comedians Bovi and Gordons.
Taking to Facebook, Ossai described Davido’s attire as “prideful and disrespectful,” insisting it was inappropriate for such a prestigious occasion.
Davido, who performed at the event, has not publicly responded to the criticism.
The incident has since sparked mixed reactions on social media, with some fans defending the singer’s relaxed style while others agreed with Ossai’s stance on respecting cultural and social settings.
