The Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has dismissed allegations by the party’s National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, that his signature was forged on official correspondence sent to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) concerning the forthcoming 2025 Elective National Convention.
In a statement signed by its Chairman, Senator Adolphus Wabara, the BoT described the allegation as “baseless and misleading,” insisting that the letter in question was duly signed by both the National Chairman, Ambassador Umar Iliya Damagum, and Senator Anyanwu himself on August 25, 2025, during the 102nd meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party.

According to Wabara, the signing took place in the presence of key party stakeholders, including members of the PDP Governors’ Forum, the BoT, and other NEC members who witnessed the process.
He added that Anyanwu later served as Secretary of the Contact and Mobilization Sub-Committee for the upcoming convention, co-signing several official communications alongside the sub-committee chairman, Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State.
Wabara further noted that Anyanwu personally transmitted a letter seeking financial approval for the sub-committee’s inaugural meeting, documents that remain in the custody of the party and relevant convention committees. He said the BoT’s clarification became necessary to prevent the public from being misled and to protect the integrity of the party’s leadership.
“The claim of forgery is not only inconsistent with the record of events but also regrettable,” Wabara said. “Such allegations can only be seen as an attempt to cast aspersions on the credibility of our leadership and processes.”
The BoT chairman assured members and supporters that the PDP remains cohesive and focused ahead of its national convention scheduled to hold from November 15 to 16, 2025, in Ibadan, Oyo State.
He called on party members to disregard Anyanwu’s claims and remain steadfast in their support for the PDP’s collective vision of democratic renewal.
