The political atmosphere in Cross River State continues to heat up as more voices within the All Progressives Congress (APC) applaud the growing influence of Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, describing his move towards the ruling party as a major turning point ahead of the 2027 general elections.
APC stalwart and grassroots mobilizer, Gabriel Bravo Oluohu (JP), in a statement on Monday
titled “God the Father, Not Godfathers,” hailed Senator Jarigbe as one of Nigeria’s most performing, accessible, and result-driven lawmakers whose political value transcends party lines.
Oluohu, who has been vocal about redefining political loyalty and leadership values, said Senator Jarigbe’s potential entry into the APC represents a strategic gain that could consolidate the party’s dominance in the state and beyond.

“Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe is for everyone. He is not here to fight or displace anyone,”.
“His only interest is to continue serving in the position he currently occupies, nothing more. His move to the APC is a huge blessing and a strategic breakthrough, before, during, and after the elections”, Oluohu stated.
Performance Beyond Party Lines, Oluohu explained that his decision to support Senator Jarigbe even while in the APC stemmed from the lawmaker’s exceptional record and commitment to grassroots development. He noted that his politics has always been guided by interest and performance rather than party sentiment.
“Some time ago, I chose to support Senator Jarigbe Agom in the PDP because of his exceptional performance and in line with former Governor Ben Ayade’s philosophy of transboundary politics.
“Politics for me is about development and partnership, not parochial emotions ”, he said.
He also recalled that he had supported Senator Stephen Odey (PDP) while serving as an APC Supervisory Councillor five years ago, emphasizing that such decisions were guided by merit, not party dictates.
Oluohu, however, lamented that certain figures within the APC have resisted Senator Jarigbe’s integration into the party, accusing them of selfishness and outdated godfatherism.
“Shockingly, the same group of politicians opposed it again, driven by selfish motives and unfounded fears,” he noted. “In their narrow thinking, everything must pass through them or nothing should happen at all. They want to be the only cock that crows.”
He accused these elements of trying to create division within the party by pitching the state governor against Senator Jarigbe and even national leaders in Abuja.
“Instead of celebrating the entry of an uncommon Senator and his teeming supporters into our great party, some are angry and restless for personal reasons. But thankfully, God has continued to scatter their evil gatherings and expose their deceit,” Oluohu declared.
The APC chieftain described Senator Jarigbe’s expected defection as one of the most significant political realignments in Cross River’s recent history. He argued that Jarigbe’s political strength, grassroots connection, and proven track record make him an indispensable ally for the ruling party.
“Remember, this is the man who defeated us all in 2023, including a sitting governor and two Reps members,” Oluohu said. “With Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe as our APC Senatorial candidate in 2027, we can truly sleep with both eyes closed on election eve and day because our strongest opponent has become our greatest ally.”
Beyond the local politics of Cross River, Oluohu used the opportunity to caution Nigerian political leaders against the culture of godfatherism, which he said has crippled genuine political growth and suppressed new leadership.
“Some leaders are not looking for genuine supporters but slaves,” he said. “They want everything to revolve around them, their interests, and their dictates. But power is transient. We must allow others to grow too.”
He urged politicians to show humility, gratitude, and flexibility, recognizing that change is inevitable in political life.
“If you answer truthfully, you’ll understand that politics should not be about lording over others but about respecting everyone’s right to grow and make independent choices.” “Before 1999, 2007, 2015, or 2023, where were you politically or economically?” he questioned.
Reaffirming his commitment to the APC and to progressive politics, Oluohu said his support for Senator Jarigbe is driven by conviction and strategy, not emotion.
“We are bold as a pride of lions in standing with Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe on his 2027 mandate,” he declared. “God is faithful. The wicked may plot, but their devices shall fail.”
