Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, the Emir of Kano, has stated that he once received an official query for criticizing government policies while he was still in office as governor of Central Bank of Nigeria
In a video shared by News Central TV, Sanusi said he had spoken publicly about issues in the economy and pointed out certain things he believed the government was doing wrong. He said a few days after making those comments, he was surprised to receive a query from the government.
Sanusi said it was the first and only time in his entire life that he had ever been queried for speaking his mind about government actions. He stated that the person who issued the query was Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, who was then the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

In Sanusi’s words: “When I was governor I spoke about the economy and I spoke about some things that I felt we were doing wrong. A few days after that, to my shock, I received a query. It is the one time in my entire life that I got a query for coming to criticize government policy when I was governor and the person who gave me that query is sitting in this room. He was former secretary to the government of the federation, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, who insists that he was only carrying out instructions. I keep reminding him every time that he is the one man that gave me query in my life for criticizing government policy”
