On Tuesday, the Nigerien Ministry of Defence reported a terrorist attack in the Tillabery region of western Niger, resulting in the deaths of 20 soldiers. Nine soldiers sustained injuries, and two army vehicles were damaged during the assault. The Ministry of Defence stated that numerous terrorists were eliminated, and their means of transportation and communication were destroyed. Reinforcements were dispatched by air and ground to pursue and neutralize the remaining attackers. Local media reports indicate that the village of Tassia lies within the “three borders” area (Niger-Mali-Burkina Faso), which has recently emerged as a source of instability in the southwestern region of the country.
