BREAKING: Anthony Joshua Set for First-Ever Fight in Africa, Eyes Nigeria Bout in 2026

Nigerian-British boxer Anthony Joshua could be set to fight on African soil for the first time, with Nigeria the likely destination.

Promoter Ezekiel Adamu confirmed that talks are ongoing to stage the bout in early 2026 at the 50,000-capacity Abuja Stadium, fulfilling Joshua’s long-held dream of fighting in his home country.

“I spoke with him, I spoke with his team, and they already said to me, ‘If we had an offer from Nigeria, it’s a match made in heaven,’” Adamu told The Ring.
“Joshua has always said that before he ends his career, he wants to fight in Nigeria, and we are going to make that fight happen.”

Adamu added that the event is expected to be an all-African contest, with possible opponents including Tony Yoka, Martin Bakole, and even Deontay Wilder, who has Nigerian roots.
