This sounds too good to be true. Are you aware that there was a plan to manufacture a malaria vaccine in Burkina Faso? That vaccine, I can tell you, would have rendered Nigerian women sterile. Many people do not know the truth. The West has lost its technological advantage to China and the East. They now want to dominate biological science, cloning and related fields because it is a billion-dollar industry.
They are behind many of these vaccine alliances, but their motives are questionable. The real agenda is to immunise Nigerian women in a way that eventually renders them infertile. During fertility treatments like IVF, a woman’s ovaries are stimulated to produce many eggs. These people then buy excess ova, which are taken to their labs for all sorts of experiments.
Some would say this sounds like a conspiracy theory or fear-driven narrative..
It is not a conspiracy theory. Why are they suddenly so interested in ‘immunising’ us against HIV? HIV rates in Nigeria have drastically reduced. I am a surgeon; before I operate on any patient, I must conduct an HIV test. About 15 years ago, I used to get many positive cases. In the past six years, I have not seen a single HIV-positive patient. If the incidence has dropped so significantly, why are they pushing this medication on us?

The real problems driving unprotected sex in Nigeria are poverty and underemployment. In a country where the minimum wage is N70,000, and some states are not even paying, how does it make sense to tell people to pay N70,000 for this medication? Some may argue that the government will subsidise it. But if the government has N70,000 to spend per person, why not invest that money in infrastructure and economic growth so that people are not forced into prostitution for survival?
Prostitution and poverty are the main drivers of HIV in some areas. If income improves, HIV rates will naturally decline. Improving the economy is far more impactful than distributing this medication. This entire push is suspicious. They are not helping Nigeria in any other meaningful way. Why the sudden obsession with vaccines? They previously tried to introduce a malaria vaccine that would have sterilised our women. Now that that attempt has been resisted, they are bringing this one. We totally reject it. We do not want this medication.
Of course. We agree. Nigeria already has standard vaccines: measles, polio, HPV, and others. We have not rejected those because they are established and trusted. This one that Gavi is bringing is questionable.
But sir, this is not technically a vaccine. It is a form of PrEP, a preventive medication for HIV
We understand that. We are saying the same thing. The issue is not whether PrEP is useful; it is the people promoting this particular product. Their track record is suspect. We believe such medications are necessary, but the current push, especially at a cost of $40 per shot, is unacceptable. It will further impoverish people. In a country where the minimum wage is N70,000, that price is unreasonable. We reject it. This is not the way to help us. If you want to reduce HIV rates, improve the economy.
They can use it in their own countries. That is their business. But they are not trustworthy. That is the real issue. Are you familiar with the Law of Similar Evidence? These are the same people who tried to introduce genetically modified crops in Nigeria. If someone has done something insincere in the past, what guarantee do you have that they will be sincere now?
Remember the meningitis vaccine trial in Kano? You know what happened. Many of these international organisations leading this campaign cannot be trusted. Therefore, we are not accepting any medication from bodies with questionable reputations. That is the issue. They are not trustworthy. Their man is now in government, isn’t he?
It’s not just another injection. Other things could be introduced without your knowledge. That’s what I am saying. Do you understand my point?
I do. I am only echoing what experts are saying.
Those people are speaking out of ignorance or acting as accessories to a scam. Nigeria has monumental problems that need funding. For over 20 years, these organisations have been coming here. What real improvements have we seen? Has our health sector improved? Some even tried to buy private hospitals to gain total control of our health industry. We know this.
NACA should reject it. We don’t want it. We don’t want any HIV-prevention medication from these organisations, as they are not trustworthy. If a dubious person offers something and you don’t feel comfortable taking it, should you be forced? That is my point. They must be trustworthy before we can consider accepting anything. They have proven themselves untrustworthy, especially in the Nigerian context. Take USAID, for example, which President Donald Trump cancelled. They claim to give $200 million to Africa as aid, but only about 10 per cent reaches Nigeria. They bring consultants who then exploit us. This was echoed by a former UN Secretary-General. You can fact-check me. We do not want HIV medication.
I speak this way because I understand international affairs. Africa is backwards because of neocolonialism, which uses subtle methods to keep us down. The African gene is dominant; only Africa has the complete mitochondrial DNA, L0 to L7, while the rest of the world has only L3. If someone wants genes for cloning, where else would they get them but Africa?
Historically, during colonisation, our kings sold their people as slaves. Today, they use subtler methods. Why don’t they aid manufacturing in Nigeria? Why only importation? They don’t want us to develop or have our own industries.
I don’t trust their help. I am not like other doctors; I know how global affairs impact Nigeria. That is why this HIV injection is totally rejected. I have been a life trustee and past president of the Private Medical Practitioners Association of Nigeria for over 20 years. I know what will truly help Nigeria, and this is not it. Someone cannot claim a medication costs $28,000 in the United States and sell it here for $40… That $28,000 is the annual cost in the U.S. A shot in Nigeria may cost as low as $40 (around N67,000). I don’t trust benevolence. The people championing it are not trustworthy.
Anyone who is sexually active should practice safe sex. Use condoms and other preventive measures against HIV and STIs. Avoid multiple partners. Follow these guidelines and forget this medication. No medication is 100 per cent effective, and despite any claims, this injection could do more harm than good. Its risks are being hidden. People should follow all preventive measures and ignore this injection. There are no shortcuts. It is like someone promising a weight-loss injection. Is that sustainable? Change your diet and exercise, and you will lose weight safely. The same principle applies here: abstain, use condoms, keep one trusted sexual partner, follow preventive measures, and you won’t need this injection.
