BREAKING: Cultism: We learnt that he was killed by the Aye cult group. His wrist was totally cut off – Resident

According to a report by the Punch on Monday, September 15, 2025, Lagos neighborhoods were gripped by fear this weekend as suspected cult-related violence resulted in the deaths of two young men in separate attacks. The incidents, occurring in the Lakowe and Sangotedo areas, appear to be part of an escalating pattern of retaliatory violence between rival groups that has troubled various parts of Lagos State in recent weeks.

According to distressed residents who spoke anonymously for security reasons, one victim suffered a particularly brutal attack in the Orita Adeba area. “We learnt that he was killed by the Aye cult group. His wrist was totally cut off,” a local source revealed, highlighting the extreme violence characterizing these clashes. The assailants not only ended the young man’s life but severed his right wrist and reportedly carried it away from the scene.

The community’s anxiety deepened with the discovery of another victim found deceased near a drainage culvert in Sangotedo. While authorities have not confirmed the motives behind this second killing, the proximity in time and location has led many to suspect connections to the ongoing cult conflicts. Social media footage circulated showing the victim lying motionless by the roadside as shocked residents gathered at the scene.

Local inhabitants expressed growing concern about the frequency of these violent outbreaks. “The situation has become terrifying,” shared one resident. “This is the third such incident we’ve witnessed in just a matter of days. These groups seem to be keeping score through bloodshed.” The community members described how the violence has created an atmosphere of constant fear, with many afraid to venture out after dark.
