Major General Chinedu Nnebeife, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 2 Division, Nigerian Army and Commander Sector 3 Operation FANSAN YAMA, has led troops in a successful rescue operation of victims in Kwara State.
The acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations of 2 Division, Lieutenant Colonel Polycarp Okoye, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday.
Okoye said the GOC had during an operational visit to Patrol Base Babanla on Thursday led troops to advance into Babasango Forest, where they rescued two kidnap victims.

He said the victims were later handed over to the traditional ruler of Ayekale, Oba Pius Oluwole, Onidofin of Idofin Odoeshe Ayekale.
According to him, the visit followed a bandits’ attack near Idofin in Omu-Aran Local Government Area, where three traders were killed at Olegbede village.
He said: “Oba Oluwole attributed the attacks to the community’s proximity to Babasango Forest and appealed for sustained military presence.
“Major General Nnebeife commiserated with the royal father and assured that the Nigerian Army would sustain ongoing operations to clear the forest of bandits and other criminal elements.”
