In a significant move to deepen development partnerships, His Excellency the Executive Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, today hosted the Country Director of the United Nations Association for Sustainable Development Goals (UNASDG), Mr. S. J. Adekunle, at the Governor’s Lodge in Abuja.
The high-level meeting focused on forging collaborative pathways to accelerate the implementation of sustainable development initiatives across Bauchi State.
Key areas of discussion included education, healthcare, environmental sustainability, youth empowerment, and poverty alleviation.

Governor Bala Mohammed, in his remarks, reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to aligning state development policies with global best practices as outlined in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
He emphasized that Bauchi State remains open to robust partnerships that will drive inclusive growth, institutional reforms, and human capital development.
“We are committed to building a resilient and inclusive Bauchi, and we believe that working closely with international development partners such as UNASDG is critical to achieving this vision,” the Governor stated.
In his response, Mr. S. J. Adekunle expressed the readiness of UNASDG to support Bauchi State’s development aspirations through technical assistance, strategic frameworks, and community-based initiatives aimed at long-term impact.
“Bauchi is a state with tremendous potential. We look forward to partnering with the government to scale up programs that leave no one behind, particularly in rural communities,” Mr. Adekunle noted.
Also in attendance at the meeting were Hon. Yakubu Adamu, PhD, Commissioner for Finance and Economic Development, Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Hon. Aminu Hammayo, and other top government officials.
The engagement marks a promising step toward integrating local governance with international development efforts, as Bauchi State continues its march toward a sustainable and prosperous future.
