BREAKING: Obasanjo, Buhari, Abacha All Deployed Soldiers as Ministers of State — Where Are They Now? – Opara

During a fiery interview on Symfoni TV amid the ongoing Nnamdi Kanu protests, Maxwell Opara condemned the use of military and police forces to intimidate citizens exercising their constitutional right to protest. He reminded Nigerians that peaceful demonstration is a vital part of democracy and urged authorities to allow protests to proceed without harassment.

“Obasanjo, Buhari, and Abacha used soldiers when they were ministers of state; where are they today? – Opara,” he stated, highlighting the irony of leaders who once relied on military power now criticizing citizens for protesting. Opara argued that using soldiers against civilians undermines democracy and threatens the very freedoms the country claims to uphold.

He also decried the ongoing intimidation of lawyers and activists, noting that some legal practitioners involved in the protest had been arrested and that courts in the FCT were shut down to prevent legal challenges. According to Opara, the protest is entirely peaceful, with participants carrying no weapons, and its purpose is to advocate for justice, equity, and good governance in Nigeria.

Opara concluded by calling on all Nigerians to support the cause, including security personnel, emphasizing that citizens should not be punished for exercising their rights. He urged the government to release Nnamdi Kanu and stressed that true democracy requires respect for freedom of expression and equality before the law.
