Former Labour Party (LP) candidate Benjamin Brantford has officially defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), declaring the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) “a dead party” and describing the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as “unstructured.”
Brantford made this known during an interview with TG News, stating that his return to the APC was a homecoming, as he had been a founding member of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) under the late General Muhammadu Buhari before its merger into the APC.
“The PDP is a dead party, and the ADC is not structured,” Brantford said. “Since Wazirin Adamawa, Atiku Abubakar, left the PDP, there has been a crisis within the party. Even Nyesom Wike, who claims to be a PDP member, operates under the APC.”
Brantford argued that there is currently no viable opposition party capable of challenging the APC in Nigeria’s political landscape.

“With the current situation, the PDP can never move forward. There is no credible opposition party in the country that could face the APC,” he said. “The ADC is not structured. All the big names associated with the ADC are not registered members. They are just roaming around, making noise and causing distractions about leadership in the party.”
Brantford said his decision to join the APC was driven by a desire to contribute to development efforts in his constituency rather than align with parties he believes lack structure or vision.
“I don’t want to join a party that is likely to crash,” he explained. “The APC remains the only structured and credible party at the moment.”
The former military officer also commended the APC-led federal government for intervening in the repair of a collapsing bridge connecting LCCN Ganye to Yemen and Bulo, describing it as critical infrastructure for the predominantly farming community.
“I made several appeals to the Adamawa State Government to fix that bridge, but nothing was done,” Brantford said. “It took the intervention of the APC government at the federal level for the project to commence.”
He criticized the PDP-led state government for failing to deliver basic infrastructure to Ganye, claiming that “there is not even a two-kilometer road in Ganye that the PDP has constructed,” yet the party continues to seek votes from the people.
“The federal government is constructing roads worth ₦20 billion—projects that should have been handled by the state government,” he noted. “The people of Ganye are now feeling the presence of federal authorities through the efforts of Mallam Nuhu Ribadu and the Walin Ganye.”
Brantford described Ribadu and the Walin Ganye as the “political gateways” of Adamawa State, emphasizing their influence in shaping the region’s political direction.
He concluded by reiterating his commitment to bringing development to his people through the APC, regardless of whether he holds public office.
“I joined the APC to aid development for my people,” Brantford said. “Even without an office, I can use my influence within the ruling party to seek interventions that will improve their lives.”
