The Northern Elders Unity Forum of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, and his allies of trying to destroy the party and weaken opposition politics in Nigeria.
According to a report by Vanguard on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, in a statement released after its 18th General Meeting, the Forum said it fully supports the leadership of the PDP Acting National Chairman, Ambassador Iliya Umar Damagum. The Forum also condemned what it called “desperate moves” by some party members to disrupt the party’s national convention, which is set to take place on November 15 and 16 in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The Forum’s National Secretary, Dr. Abbas Sadauki, said the party will not allow anyone to stop the convention or divide its members. He warned that those working with outside political forces to cause confusion within the PDP are “mere jokers” who will soon face political shame.

Sadauki claimed that the internal problems in the PDP are being fueled by Wike’s political influence and personal ambition. According to him, some “ungrateful elements,” guided by Wike, are determined to destroy the unity and progress of the party, but their plans will fail.
The Forum praised Ambassador Damagum and other loyal members for their efforts to rebuild the PDP ahead of the 2027 elections. It also urged the judiciary and President Bola Tinubu not to allow politicians to use them to harm democracy.
In his words, “It is unfortunate that some ungrateful elements, under the guidance of Mr. Nyesom Wike, are bent on destroying everything good about the PDP and other opposition movements.”
