BREAKING: Wike’s Aide Hits Back at Obi: ‘We’re Not Managing Anambra’s Beer Parlour Development’

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has hit back at Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, following his criticism of the state of public schools in Abuja, saying the FCTA under Barr Nyesom Wike is driving “real and verifiable development,” not “beer parlour-style governance.”

Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the FCT Minister, dismissed Obi’s recent comments as “attention-seeking,” urging him to “rescue himself from political wilderness instead of jumping from one media rant to another”.

Olayinka stated that, unlike Obi’s administration in Anambra State, the Wike-led FCTA is investing heavily in education infrastructure.

“73 schools are currently being renovated across the six Area Councils, while 21 have been completely renovated. In total, 102 contracts have been awarded for the renovation of schools across the FCT,” he said.

The presidential candidate had earlier described the poor condition of public schools in the FCT as a “national disgrace,” after visiting LEA Primary School, Kapwa, Abuja. But Olayinka countered that the FCTA is already addressing those concerns through ongoing reforms.

“Unlike Obi, who did nothing to uplift education as Governor of Anambra State, Wike’s administration is building, renovating, and modernizing schools,” Olayinka said.

“If Obi had performed the same magic he has been promising Nigerians, Anambra would have been a model of development today.”

Accusing the former governor of hoarding state funds instead of investing in critical infrastructure, Olayinka alleged: “As governor, Obi kept Anambra’s money in his own bank rather than building schools, roads, and hospitals. The state is still suffering from the rot of his eight years of ‘mad man advice-induced misgovernance.’”

He further mocked Obi as an “Internally Displaced Politician (IDP)” seeking relevance. “It’s funny that someone who should be worried about not having a political platform for 2027 has turned himself into a political wanderer,” he said, adding sarcastically: “Will any party still hand him a ticket just because he claims to own one shoe and one wristwatch?”

Olayinka concluded that the Wike-led FCTA remains focused on “substance over showmanship,” ensuring tangible results that residents can see and feel across all sectors of the capital territory.
