Court delivers judgement on Amaewhule-led lawmakers vs Oko-Jumbo-led lawmakers on 4th July

The Court of Appeal has scheduled July 4 for the delivery of its judgment in a pivotal case involving Martins Amaewhule and Victor Oko-Jumbo, disputing the speakership and legislative authority in Rivers State. Following this decision, Amaewhule’s faction appealed the injunction at the Court of Appeal, seeking reinstatement and contesting the High Court’s ruling Despite declining to stay the execution of the injunction, the appellate court, comprising Justices Jimi Olukayode Bada, Hamma Akawu, and Balkisu Bello Aliyu, opted to proceed with hearing the case and promised a final judgment.In the interim, the court has instructed all parties to maintain the current state of affairs until the verdict is reached.

According to The Nation, the case’s outcome is anticipated to bring resolution to the political tension in Rivers State, especially concerning the tenure of local government chairmen appointed during the contested period.
