According to a report by Emir Bayero, through his Palace Secretary, Abdullahi Kwaru, had submitted a letter to the Kano Police Command seeking security deployment for his upcoming Sallah Eid activities, including the Durbar and Hawan Nassarawa traditional outing. In response, the Police issued a letter dated June 10, 2024, inviting the Emir or his Durbar Committee for a security evaluation meeting, a customary procedure in such matters. However, sources within the Police Command disclosed that neither Emir Bayero nor his representatives responded to the request to send a high-level delegation for the security assessment meetings as requested by the Police. Moreover, reports surfaced about a purported letter from Emir Bayero’s camp urging all Hakimai and District Heads to convene in the city for the Sallah Durbar, although the authenticity of this document remains unverified.

Notably, the alleged author of the second letter, Galadiman Kano Abbas Sunusi, was reportedly indisposed, raising doubts about the letter’s legitimacy. Despite claims of sickness, a letter attributed to Galadiman Kano mandated District Heads to attend the Durbar, with no clear indication of the author’s identity. In response to the unfolding events, the State Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Usaini Gumel, expressed the Command’s readiness to engage with Emir Bayero’s Durbar Committee for the scheduled security and assessment meeting, emphasizing the importance of cooperation between the authorities and the concerned parties in ensuring a secure environment for the Eid celebrations.
