Fubara: ‘Don’t Destroy A Party That Made You Who You Are. You Have Your Grievances—Diran Odeyemi

Diran Odeyemi, Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, on Tuesday, has cautioned the Rivers State Governor Siminialaye Fubara for extending his frustration to the party, stressing that he should use alternative method rather than portraying the party to unable to solve its crisis. Odeyemi who is former Deputy National Publicity Secretary, described the governor’s statement as unfortunate, warned him of destroying the party that contributed to his position. The governor while receiving some lawmakers in the red chamber in the Presidential Hotel, stated that regardless of being the most abused governor in the entire Federation he had deliberately tolerated such fulmination to remain on the delivery of democratic dividend of the state, noting that those planning to instigate crisis in the state will be ineffectual. According to Punch, Odeyemi said there were rules and a constitution guiding the members of the party, emphasizing that they expected the governor to present his grievances to the leadership of the party. He said, “Don’t destroy a party that made you who you are. Agreed, you have your grievances, but go through the normal channels and do not portray the party as unable to resolve its issues”.

Another member of the party who is the PDP Deputy National Youth Leader, said there is nothing that the governor wanted the party have not done. He blamed the governor for showing no concern when the party needed his support at the end court. He noted that since the cases at still pending at the court, the state party National Working Committee extended the tenure of the serving executives. He argued that the governor cannot expect the NWC to attend all issue at a time, emphasizing that the governor need to be a politician to understand the constitution of the party. He warned to stop dismaying the party’s reputation, adding that if he has any score to settle he should approach the authorities of the party in the state.
