King of the Pitch: Osimhen beats Boniface to new crown

Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen has been crowned ‘King of the Pitch’ at the Nigeria Pitch Award over his compatriots, Victor Boniface and Emeka Mbaoma, Nigeria soccernet.com reports.

The Nigeria Pitch Award, a football ceremony put together to celebrate the contribution and performance of football players and stakeholders yesterday in the gala night announced Super Eagles forward, Osimhen as King of the Pitch, 2023.

Osimhen was an intergal member of Jose Peseiro’s squad who finished second at the Africa Cup of Nations. The 26 year old at the just concluded underwhelming season, scored 15 goals in the Serie A compared to Boniface’s 21 goals, unfortunately, the Bayer Leverkusen striker was not available for the AFCON due to injury. Mbaoma on the other hand scored 14 for Enyimba in the NPFL.
