Former Everton forward James McFadden has praised Kelechi Iheanacho for his superb strike in Celtic’s 1-1 Europa League draw with Red Star Belgrade on Wednesday.
Iheanacho came off the bench in the second half to break the deadlock at the Rajko Mitic Stadium, controlling a pass from Benjamin Nygren with an exquisite first touch before calmly slotting into the far corner.
Speaking during a televised interview, McFadden lauded the Nigerian’s skill and composure:
“First of all, what a first touch it is, he kills it dead and then reverses it into the far corner. The first touch makes it, it’s incredible. A really composed finish, too.”
The 28-year-old forward, who joined Celtic from Middlesbrough on a free transfer this summer, has enjoyed a bright start to life in Scotland, recording 2 goals and 1 assist in 3 games for the Scottish champions.
