Ndidi Returns from Injury, Named in Besiktas Squad for Kayserispor Clash

Wilfred Ndidi has been included in Besiktas’ squad for their rescheduled Super Lig opener against Kayserispor on Wednesday after recovering from injury.

The Nigerian midfielder had been sidelined since picking up a knock during Nigeria’s World Cup qualifier against South Africa, where he was substituted in the 70th minute. His absence forced him to miss league games against Basaksehir and Goztepe, raising concerns of a lengthy lay-off.

Besiktas eased fears at the weekend by confirming that Ndidi had rejoined full training, and head coach Sergen Yalçın has now named him in the travelling party.

Ndidi, a summer signing from Leicester City, has quickly established himself as a key figure, featuring in four matches, including his league debut in the 2-1 win over Eyüpspor and both legs of the Europa Conference League qualifiers against Lausanne Sport.

Besiktas, currently 11th in the Super Lig with six points from four games, will hope Ndidi’s return strengthens their midfield as they look to climb the table.
