Nollywood actress and filmmaker Mercy Aigbe is mourning the death of her mother.
The award-winning star announced the loss in an emotional Instagram post on Tuesday, sharing a candlelight image with a broken heart backdrop captioned simply, “R.I.P Mum.”
The tribute immediately drew an outpouring of support from colleagues and fans across the entertainment industry.
Celebrities including Iyabo Ojo, Dayo Amusa, Bolanle Ninalowo, Omowunmi Ajiboye, Tayo Faniran, and crossdresser Idris Olanrewaju (Bobrisky) offered condolences, praying for the repose of her mother’s soul. Fans also flooded the comment section with words of comfort and solidarity.
Mercy Aigbe has often spoken about the values her mother instilled in her life, describing her as a figure of sacrifice and selflessness.
While the cause of death has not been disclosed, the loss comes less than two years after a fire incident in December 2023 that damaged the actress’s property, making this another difficult moment for her family.
