The Ogun State Police Command has disclosed not being on the trail of the hit-and-run driver who killed popular Nigerian Human Rights activist, Abiodun Aremu.
NPO Reported that Aremu was on Sunday knocked down by a vehicle in Ota area of Ogun state.
Efforts to resuscitate him proved abortive as he was confirmed dead in the hospital.
In the wake of his death, NPO Reports on Monday reached out the Ogun Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, to confirm the incident.

However, the police spokesperson, in a WhatsApp message, directed our correspondent to a District Police Officer (DPO) of the Sango-Ota division.
The DPO was however unresponsive to phone calls.
While reverting back to the Odutola on Tuesday, the Ogun Police spokesperson disclosed that there is no information at the Command’s disposal over the incident.
“We have no information about the incident.” Odutola wrote.
Meanwhile, Aremu’s death had shocked the Nigerian labour movement as fellow activists and prominent Nigerians mourned the passing of the Aremu.
Also joining other dignitaries in rendering tribute to the late activist was President Bola Tinubu.
The President, in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, described Aremu as a steadfast champion of workers’ rights who gave his life to the fight for dignity, justice, and equity in Nigeria.
He also extended condolences to the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), and broader civil society groups.
Tinubu said Aremu’s passing was a painful loss to those who shared his vision for a fairer and more just society.
“He was a courageous comrade who remained steadfast in his beliefs and never wavered in his defence of the oppressed.
“Aremu was a teacher, an organiser, a conscience of the people. He shaped minds and inspired generations of Nigerians on integrity, justice and patriotism.
“The nation has lost a selfless patriot and a tireless fighter for the common good,” the President remarked.
