The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has declared that the dissolution of its Akwa Ibom State executive committee and the appointment of a caretaker committee are final, stressing that no individual— including National Secretary Senator Samuel Anyanwu—has the authority to overturn the decision.
Speaking at an interactive session with journalists on Thursday, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, criticised Anyanwu, an ally of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, for attempting to void the action of the National Working Committee (NWC).

He described the move as unconstitutional and outside the scope of the National Secretary’s office. Ologunagba explained that, by the PDP Constitution, only the National Chairman is empowered to summon meetings of the party’s organs. He noted that the 607th NWC meeting, where the Akwa Ibom decision was reached, was properly convened with 16 out of 18 members in attendance, making the outcome valid and binding.
He also pushed back against rumours of internal conflict between the Acting National Chairman and the National Secretary over recent congresses and caretaker appointments, saying such speculation was unfounded.
