Take-It-Back Movement Plans Nationwide Protests, Lagos Among Target Cities

The Take-It-Back Movement (TIB), in partnership with the Movement for the Transformation of Nigeria (MoTion), has unveiled plans to hold a nationwide protest, starting in Lagos State, against what they describe as harsh and unjust government policies.

The protest, slated for Friday, the 17th of October, 2025, is aimed at demanding an end to “anti-people” government actions, worsening poverty, and ongoing forced evictions under President Bola Tinubu’s leadership.

Details of the planned demonstration were shared in a statement signed by Adekunle Adeyemi Taofeek, the Lagos State Coordinator of TIB, on Wednesday, the 15th of October.

The statement noted that the protest would kick off at 7 a.m. at the Lagos State House of Assembly, with workers, students, traders, and unemployed citizens expected to take part in the mass action.

According to the organisers, the protest represents a “united call against crippling poverty, exploitative fuel tax, and oppressive tax reforms,” which they believe have intensified hardship for millions of Nigerians.

“In recent months, millions of Nigerians have been pushed deeper into poverty as the cost of living skyrockets beyond survival limits.

“The regime’s so-called ‘tax reform’ has only worsened economic hardship, targeting the poor while protecting the rich,” the statement read.
