Wike Warns Against a ‘Third Chance,’ Says It Could Lead to Death

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, was quoted as saying that he would not make the error of allowing people who failed to build the capital city in the past to wreck it again, as stated in a report that was published by the Daily Post on Tuesday, October 7, 2025.

This statement was made by him while he was addressing citizens of the Federal Capital Territory on Tuesday, during the flag-off ceremony for the rehabilitation of the 15-kilometer old Keffi Road from Kado in Abuja.

It was noted by Wike that the current administration, which is led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is dedicated to enhancing the infrastructure of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and delivering projects that will make life easier for the people who live there.

It was brought to his attention that prior administrations were provided with opportunity to perform, but they were unable to live up to the aspirations of the Nigerian people, particularly in the nation’s capital.

In accordance with his assertions, the Federal Government is exerting a great deal of effort to guarantee that the ongoing projects in the FCT are finished within the allotted amount of time.

According to him, the primary focus of his ministry is on achieving outcomes, rather than focussing on political distractions or receiving criticism from individuals who, in his opinion, failed to deliver when they were given the opportunity to do so.

It was encouraged by the minister that the people of the area avoid criticisms that were intended to undermine the accomplishments that the Tinubu administration has made.

It was his contention that the efforts of the administration are evident in the construction of roads, housing, and other infrastructure projects that are being carried out all across the territory.

Additionally, he stated that growth necessitates consistency and that his administration would continue to prioritise the well-being of inhabitants of the FCT through the implementation of efficient government.

Wike made it clear that the current administration will not permit the errors that have occurred in the past to be replicated ever again.

He emphasised that leadership necessitates having boldness and a distinct sense of direction, both of which, in his opinion, President Tinubu’s administration has exhibited.

In addition to this, he added that Abuja need to be renovated in order to reflect its role as the nation’s capital by means of urban regeneration, an increase in security, and improved roadways.

The public was given the assurance that the project to rehabilitate the ancient Keffi Road is a component of a larger plan to reduce the amount of traffic congestion and to facilitate the seamless operation of transit inside the capital.

It was also said by the minister that the project would not only increase connectivity, but it would also improve commercial activity and minimise the amount of time that commuters and motorists spend travelling.

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory reaffirmed his dedication to transparency, accountability, and the success of all projects that are currently underway.

He emphasised that good government can only flourish when citizens and leaders collaborate for the common good, and he asked for the support and collaboration of the general public.

At the end of his speech, Wike reaffirmed that Abuja will continue to experience continuous progress while he is in charge of the city, and that the future of the city is dependent on responsible leadership and joint effort.

“They failed us, despite the fact that we gave them the first chance,” he said. “Because they have let us down, we are giving them another chance. Should we fail to make the most of the third opportunity, they will take your life. Would you like to be put to death?

Therefore, we do not have any other option but to continue with the current government, which has made every effort to improve the situation for the people of Abuja and for the people of Nigeria.
