How we write an answer
The format every answer follows, the official sources we point to, and the limits.
Every answer on the site follows the same format, so you know where to look.
The format
- Quick answer. One or two sentences that answer the question before anything else.
- The fact slip. The time the task takes (or the reading time for an explainer), the number of steps and a level: Easy, Medium or Advanced.
- The steps. A numbered list you can follow, each step starting with what to do in bold.
- Problems and questions. What to check first, common mistakes and a short FAQ.
- Official source. The organisation whose own help pages or rules cover the topic.
Sources we point to
We name the publisher that owns each topic so you can confirm details that change between versions:
- Phones and apps: Apple Support, Google Android Help, WhatsApp Help Center and the app’s own help pages.
- Computers and the internet: Microsoft Support, Apple Support (Mac), Google Chrome Help and other browser help pages.
- Football: The IFAB Laws of the Game (the official rules of association football) and FIFA competition regulations.
- Work, home and clothing care: general know-how; where a product label or manufacturer’s care guide applies, follow it.
Limits
Menus, button names and settings move between app and system versions, and phone makers change Android’s menus. Where a path may differ, the answer says so. Nothing on the site is professional advice.
